Okay, breathe Valerie, breathe--two weeks the store has been opened, got local eggs into the cooler for the start of the week, got a line on three, count'em, three potential honey people, brought in some dandy posters, already framed, that Pat found for me and hung them up. Used part of the day off to see the Accountant, the bestest most calming and reassuring person in the world, he missed his calling and should have been a counselor (I guess he's sort of a financial counselor). He accepted my stacks and binders and rubberband'd bundles of receipts and reassured me he'd help with the quickbooks and all is sunshiny good on that front.
Pat and I thrifted and ol' eagle eye, she found three old quilts, one just a cutter, the other two sell-able, and they are soaking in hot water and oxy-clean all day at home today. And we scored these lovely hot pads, handmade and newly done, so I snapped them up for MY customers:
Aren't they just so sweet? I really believe having handmade things around us, helps us to remember to settle down, take time, enjoy the space between the actions. We all get too many things onto our task list, and never feel caught up or done until exhaustion or depression forces us to stop. So surround yourself with the work of other people's hands, not stuff stamped out in some factory by mindless machines, and when you pick up that homemade item to help you complete a meal or make your table look attractive, when you tug down a handknitted cap or reach into a handmade bag, you remember how connected we all are, to one another. Peace.
