Here's me at my new job as Case Manager at the Salvation Army here in Detroit. It is a wonderful opportunity to help others, and the training I'm receiving helps me understand complicated systems for utility assistance and other kinds of resources we have to share. It's very exciting, the staff is so very kind and patient with me.
The rug is a gift from friends Dan and Rachel, who brought it from Mexico, it really brightens up my office. I added a couple of wall sculptures and this weekend plan to make some poster framed calligraphy items to add, so everything is yellows, oranges, reds, and purples, strong positive colors of strength that uplift and give hope to all who enter.
Best of all, there's a bible on every desk, a chapel on the premises that is used often, a cross in each office on the wall, and they don't mind my being plain at all. How comforting to be able--and encouraged--to pray with clients to help them focus on God's love, and seek His guidance, and let them know with a kind hug that this place welcomes them and their children, and wants to help them with their troubles.
For anyone out there that feels they live one life--with God--at home and have to leave Him aside to enter their workplace, you too can seek and find a job that accepts you and your love of God, together as one person. You might have to work for less money or fewer hours, but if a calling has been whispering to you for change--let it speak. The freedom I feel is indescribible.
