Hey, look, the bestest gift anyone could get! This three-inch scar represents my hairwire parathyroid gone (don't worry, I've got three more and you never seem to get this problem twice) and already my body is making adjustments in the right direction! I'm still a little swollen but this is 28 hours post surgery, and I went home less than 22 hours after the surgeon did his work.
And the second best gift, that secretly came attached to the first without my knowing, is that my husband was truely and completely "by my side." When constant miscommunications occurred, he was right there to be my hearing aid, supporter, and watchdog. He helped me get a headcovering when they took my prayer cap away, and was immediately awake when they tried (for the second time) to sneak a blood thinner into my I.V. when I was too groggy to wake soon enough. He was a real champion in every way.
If you keep going to doctors and telling them you are tired and your hair is thinning and you are sleeping too much, that your hands shake and you feel too tired to think in the middle of the day, if your doctor doesn't listen to you, get another doctor immediately. If this condition had not been corrected, I would have continued to leach calcium from my bones, risk kidney stones, further damaged my immune system, and most of all, I was losing my day-to-day life of serving others, being a kind person, and being willing to do extra tasks for my community. Now I can be my old self again very soon. And from a purely vanity standpoint, the doc said my hair would thicken up again within six months! Not a bad trade, a renewed joy and participation in life, for a little half-dipper scar. Don't let it scare you.
Oh so glad to see you are doing well and glad that dear Craig took such good care of you as I knew he would!!! get well now and back to being your happy self and feeling better and stronger!!! Merry Christmas dear friend!!! and here's to a great New Year!! Love Linda
